Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis
This is a rare disease that the cysts causing the gas develop frequently in the intestinal wall. Roentgenologically, at first by the plain radiograph of the abdomen, the botryose circular air patterns are seen in cluster. By the enema radiograph, because of the multiple submucous air, defect occurs on either side of the intestinal tract, and forms "leaf of holly" shape. However the sizes of defects are vary,5mm-30mm of them are mostly recognized. Every rising part of protuberances is gently sloping, and the outline and surface of protuberances are absolutely flat and smooth, and it has findings of a submucous tumor. Yet characteristically, if you follow the ridgeline, it will switch to the outline of air patterns beyond intestinal tracts. However endoscopically protuberances of a shape of a submucous tumor develop frequently, blood vessels can be seen through on the surfaces, and often flares are associated.
